Commercial Property Claims Adjuster

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Commercial Property Claims Adjuster with our client. This is a fully remote temporary opportunity supporting a claims operation based in Illinois, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

In this role, you’ll manage first-party Commercial Property claims primarily involving Illinois municipalities. Claims may include damage to municipal buildings, light poles, fire hydrants, ballparks, and other public property. You’ll investigate and evaluate losses, establish reserves, coordinate vendors, and manage claims through timely resolution.

Commercial Property Claims Adjuster Responsibilities

• Manage first-party Commercial Property claims from initial assignment through resolution
• Investigate and evaluate property damage and determine claim exposure
• Handle claims involving municipal buildings, infrastructure, and other public property
• Establish and maintain accurate reserves based on claim exposure
• Manage an active caseload while maintaining established closure and diary expectations
• Maintain timely and accurate claim documentation
• Review and respond to incoming claim correspondence
• Coordinate, assign, and monitor property vendors, legal resources, and other service providers
• Manage vendor expenses and utilize appropriate cost-control strategies
• Prepare internal and external claim reports
• Communicate with clients, claimants, vendors, and other involved parties throughout the claim process

Qualifications

• 3+ years of first-party Commercial Property claims adjusting experience
• Experience investigating and evaluating property damage claims
• Experience establishing reserves and managing claims through resolution
• Ability to manage a high-volume property claims caseload
• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent education
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel

Preferred

• Municipal or public entity property claims experience
• Multi-jurisdictional tort law experience
• Experience handling both property and liability claims

Licensing

• Adjuster license preferred but not required
