Cyber Liability Claims Specialist

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Casualty Cyber Claims Specialist with our client, a leading global commercial property and casualty insurance carrier, in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you’ll support the handling of complex casualty claims arising from cyber events and technology-related incidents. You will independently investigate, evaluate, and resolve cyber-triggered casualty losses in accordance with policy terms, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, while collaborating closely with internal partners, brokers, counsel, and insureds.

Casualty Cyber Claims Specialist Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of casualty claims arising from cyber events, including third-party bodily injury, property damage, and related liability exposures
• Conduct detailed investigations including coverage analysis, liability assessment, and damages evaluation
• Interpret and apply policy language to determine coverage positions, exposures, and claim strategy
• Establish and manage appropriate reserves throughout the life of the claim
• Negotiate settlements within assigned authority and develop effective resolution strategies
• Coordinate with underwriting, legal, and risk engineering teams as needed
• Retain and manage outside defense counsel, forensic experts, and other vendors
• Evaluate litigation exposure and oversee litigated matters
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation, reserving, and system updates
• Monitor emerging cyber casualty trends and communicate insights to leadership
• Maintain compliance with internal claims handling standards and regulatory requirements
• Participate in broker and client claim discussions when appropriate

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field
• 4+ years of experience handling casualty, cyber liability, or complex third-party commercial P&C claims
• Strong understanding of coverage analysis, liability evaluation, and complex claims resolution
• Ability to independently manage a full caseload of complex claims
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office
• Ability to meet service standards and regulatory deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cyber-triggered casualty losses strongly preferred
• Professional designations such as AIC, CPCU, or similar claims certifications
• Experience handling emerging or technology-driven risks
• Experience managing outside counsel and litigated matters
