General Liability Claims Adjuster

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a General Liability Claims Adjuster with our client.

In this role, you’ll manage complex and high-exposure General Liability claims from investigation through resolution. You’ll evaluate coverage and liability, establish reserves, manage litigation, negotiate settlements, identify recovery opportunities, and develop effective claim strategies while ensuring claims are handled in accordance with industry best practices and client service requirements.

General Liability Claims Adjuster Responsibilities

• Analyze and process complex or technically difficult General Liability claims
• Investigate claims and gather information to determine liability and exposure
• Develop and execute action plans to move claims toward timely resolution
• Manage high-exposure and litigated claims
• Assess liability and evaluate damages
• Establish and maintain appropriate reserves throughout the life of the claim
• Negotiate settlements within designated authority
• Manage litigation and coordinate with outside counsel and vendors
• Utilize appropriate cost-containment strategies to manage claim expenses
• Identify and pursue subrogation and other recovery opportunities
• Report applicable claims to excess carriers and respond to requests for information
• Communicate claim activity and developments with claimants and clients
• Maintain accurate claim documentation and coding
• Escalate complex or high-exposure matters to management as appropriate

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of General Liability claims handling experience
• Experience handling complex and high-exposure liability claims
• Experience managing litigated claims through resolution
• Strong knowledge of General Liability insurance principles, coverage, liability, and applicable claims laws
• Experience with claim evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and settlement

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Professional insurance or claims designation applicable to General Liability
• Experience handling subrogation and other claim recovery opportunities

Licensing

• Must obtain and maintain any adjuster licenses required for assigned jurisdictions
