Senior Claims Consultant

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Claims Consultant with our client, a leading global insurance brokerage, in the Chicago, Illinois area. This is a hybrid position requiring approximately one day per week in the office (downtown Chicago or Schaumburg), with the remainder remote. In this client-facing role, you’ll act as a trusted advisor, consulting with business insurance clients to navigate complex claims, mitigate risk, and drive optimal claim outcomes across a variety of lines, including construction-related exposures.

Senior Claims Consultant Responsibilities

• Consult with clients to strategically manage complex workers’ compensation and general liability claims, including construction-related and litigated matters
• Analyze and interpret insurance coverage to guide clients on carrier positions and claim strategy
• Lead claim reviews, ensuring all lines of coverage are evaluated, and actionable outcomes are achieved
• Provide guidance on liability, litigation, and risk mitigation strategies
• Serve as a liaison between clients, carriers, and internal teams to ensure effective claim resolution
• Educate clients on claims best practices, including workers’ compensation and claims mitigation strategies
• Develop and execute customized service plans to improve client outcomes and operational efficiency
• Manage a book of business, including high-touch, top-tier client accounts
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and renewal strategy discussions
• Collaborate with producers, account executives, and service teams to deliver a cohesive client experience
• Maintain accurate client data, documentation, and reporting within agency management systems
• Mentor and support junior team members on complex claims and coverage issues

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Workers Compensation and/or Commercial General Liability claims handling experience, either at a carrier or brokerage
• Previous experience handling complex, multi-line claims, including construction defect or contractor-related exposures is a plus
• Proven ability to analyze coverage, liability, and litigation strategies
• Client-facing experience with strong communication and relationship management skills
• Ability to independently manage complex accounts and deliver strategic guidance
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims or agency management systems

Licensing / Certifications

• Active Producer’s License (Casualty, Health, Life, as applicable) required upon hire
• Industry designations such as AIC or SCLA are preferred
• JD is a plus, but not required

Education

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Compensation

• Salary range: $125,000 up to approximately $175,000, with flexibility based on experience
• Bonus potential of $5,000 – $10,000

Work Arrangement

• Hybrid schedule: approximately 1 day per week in-office (Chicago or Schaumburg) and 4 days remote
• Must be local to the Chicago area
