Senior Construction Liability Claims Adjuster

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Construction Liability Claims Adjuster with our client. This is a direct hire opportunity offering a salary up to $150,000, with some flexibility for highly qualified candidates. Candidates located in the Chicago, IL area are strongly preferred, as this position follows a hybrid schedule requiring two days per week in the office. Exceptional candidates outside the Chicago area may also be considered.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced claims professional with extensive construction liability and construction defect claims expertise. The successful candidate will handle complex, high-exposure losses and litigated claims while working closely with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, and internal stakeholders to drive effective claim resolution strategies.

Senior Construction Liability Claims Adjuster Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex construction liability and construction defect claims
• Analyze coverage, liability, damages, and contractual risk transfer issues
• Manage high-exposure and large-loss claims from inception through resolution
• Develop and execute strategic claim handling and litigation management plans
• Retain, direct, and manage defense counsel, experts, consultants, and other vendors
• Establish and maintain appropriate reserves throughout the life of each claim
• Evaluate settlement opportunities and negotiate resolutions within authority
• Prepare detailed coverage analyses, claim evaluations, and management reports
• Communicate claim strategy and developments with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and internal business partners
• Ensure compliance with company guidelines, policy provisions, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
• Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation and file management

Qualifications

• 10+ years of complex litigated claims handling experience
• Significant experience handling construction liability and construction defect claims
• Large-loss claim handling experience required
• Strong coverage analysis, investigation, negotiation, and litigation management skills
• Ability to independently manage high-severity claims and competing priorities
• Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Experience working directly with defense counsel and industry experts

Work Arrangement

• Hybrid schedule with two days per week in the Chicago office preferred
• Exceptional remote candidates outside the Chicago area may be considered
