Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor
Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor with our client in Sacramento, California. This is a hybrid temp-to-hire opportunity requiring two days per week in the office. In this leadership role, you’ll oversee a dedicated workers’ compensation claims unit, ensuring compliance with California regulations, company standards, and client service expectations while mentoring and developing a team of claims professionals.
Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiners and Claims Assistants
- Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity, and professional development
- Review and approve reserve changes, settlements, awards, and claim payments within assigned authority
- Conduct file reviews to ensure compliance with California workers’ compensation laws, company guidelines, and client requirements
- Establish and maintain supervisory diaries and ensure timely completion of required claim activities
- Prepare for internal and external audits and respond to audit findings as appropriate
- Coordinate and lead training sessions on regulatory updates, claims handling procedures, and company policies
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and workflow distribution across the claims unit
- Respond to escalated claimant, vendor, and client concerns
- Analyze monthly client reports and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Participate in client meetings and file review conferences
- Promote collaboration, accountability, and exceptional customer service throughout the claims team
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of workers’ compensation supervisory or related leadership experience
- Strong technical knowledge of California workers’ compensation statutes and claims handling procedures
- Experience supervising lost time claims professionals preferred
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and claims management systems
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet strict deadlines
Certification
- California SIP Certification is required
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
