Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) is seeking a Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner for our client. This is a temporary remote opportunity supporting East Coast business hours.

The Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner will manage complex workers’ compensation claims from investigation through resolution. This role requires strong technical claim handling experience, including coverage analysis, litigation management, reserve setting, settlement negotiations, and client reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of complex workers’ compensation claims, including investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution.
• Interpret and make decisions regarding complex and unusual policy coverage issues.
• Direct investigative activities and develop litigation strategies in collaboration with defense counsel.
• Analyze claim activity and prepare reports for clients, carriers, and management.
• Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves using independent judgment and technical expertise.
• Authorize payments within assigned authority levels and ensure timely claim resolution.
• Negotiate and settle claims in a cost-effective manner while maintaining quality outcomes.
• Identify subrogation opportunities and pursue third-party recovery when applicable.
• Participate in claim reviews and provide updates regarding claim strategy, exposure, and resolution plans.
• Maintain accurate claim documentation and ensure compliance with company and client requirements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of workers’ compensation claims handling experience or related claims experience.
• Experience managing complex claims involving investigation, litigation, and settlement negotiations.
• Workers’ Compensation adjuster license required based on jurisdictional requirements.
• Strong knowledge of claims investigation, evaluation, and settlement practices.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Industry designations such as IIA, AIC, AEI, or CPCU are preferred.
