Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist with our client.

In this role, you’ll independently manage complex workers’ compensation claims, including investigation, coverage analysis, litigation strategy, reserves, settlements, and recovery opportunities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical claims experience and the ability to exercise sound judgment when handling complex claims.

Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist Responsibilities

• Interpret and make decisions regarding complex and unusual policy coverage issues
• Determine whether coverage applies to submitted claims
• Manage all aspects of investigative activity for complex workers’ compensation claims
• Direct discovery and litigation strategy in collaboration with legal counsel
• Analyze claim activity and prepare reports for clients, carriers, and management
• Establish appropriate reserves using independent judgment and technical expertise
• Authorize payments within established authority levels
• Settle claims promptly, equitably, and cost-effectively
• Ensure timely issuance of claim payments and disbursements
• Identify and develop subrogation and third-party recovery opportunities
• Follow established recovery procedures
• Participate in claim reviews and provide detailed analysis of claim activity
• Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate and timely claim documentation

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of technical claims investigation and settlement experience, or equivalent experience in a claims-related organization
• Strong VA, MD, and PA workers’ compensation claims handling experience
• Experience in independently handling complex claims
• Experience with claims investigation, evaluation, settlement, and litigation
• Strong understanding of workers’ compensation coverage and claim handling practices
• Ability to exercise independent judgment when evaluating complex claims

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience handling WV and DE workers’ compensation claims
• Industry designations such as IIA, AIC, AEI, or CPCU
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

• Full-time temporary assignment
