Commercial Auto Transportation Claims Adjuster

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Commercial Auto Transportation Claims Adjuster with our client. This is an opportunity for an experienced claims professional with a strong background in handling commercial auto bodily injury claims, including litigated and high-exposure transportation losses. In this role, you’ll investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex commercial trucking and transportation claims while ensuring compliance with policy provisions, regulatory requirements, and client service expectations.

Commercial Auto Transportation Claims Adjuster Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of commercial auto transportation bodily injury claims from initial assignment through resolution
• Investigate claims by gathering statements, reviewing documentation, analyzing coverage, and determining liability
• Evaluate and negotiate complex bodily injury claims, including high-severity losses with exposures up to $1 million and above
• Handle litigated claims and actively manage the litigation process through resolution
• Coordinate with defense counsel, experts, medical professionals, and other vendors as necessary
• Develop and maintain action plans to ensure timely claim progression and compliance with state-specific requirements
• Establish and maintain accurate reserves based on claim exposure and severity
• Review medical records, evaluate injury claims, and assess damages for appropriate claim resolution
• Communicate claim status and significant developments with insureds, clients, brokers, and other stakeholders
• Present and discuss claim strategies with internal and external stakeholders
• Ensure claim files are properly documented, coded, and maintained throughout the life of the claim
• Support quality assurance initiatives and adherence to company best practices

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of commercial auto claims handling experience
• Extensive experience handling commercial auto bodily injury claims
• Litigation management experience involving bodily injury claims is required
• Experience handling mid-to-high severity injury claims and high-value exposures
• Experience managing claims with settlements and exposures up to and exceeding $1 million
• Strong knowledge of commercial trucking and transportation claims preferred
• In-depth understanding of commercial auto policies, coverages, claims principles, and applicable laws
• Knowledge of medical terminology and bodily injury claim evaluation
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Third-party administrator (TPA) experience is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and claims management systems

Licensing

• Active adjuster licenses required
• Must be licensed in the contiguous 48 states
• Ability to secure and maintain additional state licenses as required

Education

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
• Professional claims designations or certifications preferred
