Senior Workers Compensation Claims Examiner

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner with our client. This is a fully remote temporary opportunity handling workers’ compensation claims across Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

In this role, you’ll independently manage complex workers’ compensation claims from investigation through resolution. You’ll evaluate coverage and claim exposure, manage litigation, establish reserves, negotiate settlements, identify recovery opportunities, and communicate claim activity to clients, carriers, and other stakeholders.

Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner Responsibilities

• Manage complex workers’ compensation claims from investigation through resolution
• Handle claims across Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
• Investigate claims and evaluate coverage, compensability, and exposure
• Direct discovery and litigation strategy in collaboration with legal counsel
• Establish and maintain appropriate reserves based on claim exposure
• Authorize claim payments within designated authority
• Evaluate and negotiate settlements within established authority
• Identify and pursue subrogation and third-party recovery opportunities
• Analyze claim activity and prepare reports for clients, carriers, and management
• Participate in claim reviews and provide analysis of claim developments
• Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation
• Manage multiple claim priorities while meeting applicable jurisdictional and client requirements

Qualifications

• 4+ years of workers’ compensation claims handling experience
• Experience independently managing complex workers’ compensation claims
• Experience with claims investigation, evaluation, litigation management, reserving, and settlement
• Experience handling workers’ compensation claims in one or more of the following jurisdictions: Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, D.C.

Preferred

• Multi-jurisdictional workers’ compensation claims experience across PA, DE, MD, VA, and/or DC
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Industry designations such as IIA, AIC, AEI, or CPCU

Licensing & Certifications

• Workers’ compensation adjuster license(s) as required for assigned jurisdictions
