Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster | IL & IN experience

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster with our client. This is a direct-hire opportunity requiring experience handling workers’ compensation lost-time claims in both Illinois and Indiana. Candidates may be considered at the Claims Examiner or Senior Claims Examiner level based on their qualifications and experience.

In this role, you’ll manage workers’ compensation lost-time claims from investigation through resolution, with a primary focus on Illinois and Indiana jurisdictions. You’ll determine compensability, administer indemnity benefits, coordinate medical treatment, establish reserves, and develop claim resolution strategies while ensuring compliance with applicable state regulations.

Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster Responsibilities

• Manage workers’ compensation lost-time claims in Illinois and Indiana from assignment through resolution
• Investigate claims and determine compensability in accordance with applicable state requirements
• Calculate and administer indemnity benefits and authorize claim payments within designated authority
• Coordinate medical treatment and monitor claim developments
• Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves
• Develop and maintain claim strategies and action plans through resolution
• Coordinate with defense counsel on litigated claims when applicable
• Evaluate claim exposure and negotiate settlements within designated authority
• Coordinate return-to-work efforts with employers, medical providers, and other stakeholders
• Maintain accurate claim documentation and timely diary management
• Communicate claim developments with claimants, employers, attorneys, medical providers, and clients
• Ensure claims are handled in accordance with Illinois and Indiana workers’ compensation regulations and client requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of workers’ compensation lost-time claims handling experience
• Direct experience handling workers’ compensation claims in both Illinois and Indiana
• Strong knowledge of Illinois and Indiana workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and indemnity benefit requirements
• Experience independently managing lost-time claims, including compensability, reserves, and claim resolution
• Demonstrated employment stability and a consistent work history

Preferred

• Additional workers’ compensation claims experience in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, or South Dakota
• Experience managing complex or litigated lost-time claims
