Casualty Cyber Claims Specialist

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Casualty Cyber Claims Specialist with our client. This is a direct-hire opportunity for an experienced commercial casualty claims professional with a background handling complex cyber-related and third-party liability claims. The position may be based remotely, with Chicago, IL candidates also encouraged to apply.

In this role, you’ll manage complex casualty claims arising from cyber events and technology-related incidents, including data breaches, ransomware events, network security failures, and other cyber-triggered losses. You’ll be responsible for coverage analysis, investigation, liability and damages evaluation, litigation management, reserving, negotiation, and resolution throughout the lifecycle of assigned claims.

Casualty Cyber Claims Specialist Responsibilities

• Manage casualty claims arising from cyber events, including third-party bodily injury, property damage, and related liability exposures
• Investigate complex cyber-related and commercial casualty claims
• Conduct coverage analysis and evaluate liability and damages
• Interpret and apply policy language to determine coverage, exposures, and appropriate claim strategy
• Manage assigned claims throughout the claim lifecycle, including investigation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution
• Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves within designated authority
• Develop strategies for resolving complex and high-exposure claims
• Retain and manage outside defense counsel, forensic experts, and other external vendors
• Evaluate litigation exposure and manage litigated claims through resolution
• Coordinate with underwriting, legal, risk engineering, and other internal business partners
• Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation, reserves, and system updates
• Monitor emerging cyber casualty exposures and claim trends
• Communicate significant claim developments and emerging exposures to management
• Participate in broker and client claim discussions as appropriate
• Ensure claims are handled in accordance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and audit guidelines

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field
• Minimum of 4 years of experience handling casualty claims, cyber liability claims, or complex third-party liability claims within commercial Property & Casualty insurance
• Experience conducting complex coverage analysis and liability evaluations
• Experience investigating and resolving commercial casualty claims
• Experience independently managing a caseload of complex claims
• Experience with claim reserving, negotiation, and resolution
• Experience evaluating litigation exposure and developing claim resolution strategies
• Experience using claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience handling cyber-triggered casualty losses
• Experience handling claims involving emerging or technology-related risks
• Experience working with outside counsel and managing litigated claims
• AIC, CPCU, or similar insurance or claims designation
