Construction Defect Claims Adjuster

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Construction Defect Claims Adjuster with our client. This is a fully remote direct hire opportunity, with preference given to candidates located in the Chicago, Illinois area. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of complex construction defect claims from inception through resolution, utilizing your expertise to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve claims while delivering exceptional service and maintaining compliance with policy provisions, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Construction Defect Claims Adjuster Responsibilities

• Independently investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex construction defect claims
• Analyze coverage, liability, damages, and policy provisions to determine claim exposure
• Develop and execute strategic claim resolution plans to achieve timely and cost-effective outcomes
• Manage litigated claims and coordinate with defense counsel, consultants, engineers, and expert witnesses
• Establish and maintain appropriate expense and indemnity reserves throughout the life of the claim
• Negotiate settlements within designated authority levels and present recommendations for higher authority approvals
• Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
• Communicate claim activity and recommendations with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and internal stakeholders
• Identify risk trends and provide technical expertise on complex construction defect matters
• Deliver exceptional customer service while building strong professional relationships

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience handling construction defect claims or complex commercial casualty claims
• Strong litigation management experience, including oversight of defense counsel and experts
• Thorough understanding of coverage analysis, liability evaluation, and damages assessment
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Ability to independently manage a complex caseload and prioritize multiple assignments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience handling claims involving commercial construction projects, contractors, developers, or design professionals preferred
