Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Construction Defect Unit Manager with our client. This is a fully remote opportunity available anywhere in the United States. In this leadership role, you will oversee a team of claims professionals handling complex construction defect claims, ensuring timely investigation, evaluation, and resolution of claims in accordance with policy provisions, regulatory requirements, and company guidelines.

Construction Defect Unit Manager Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of claims professionals handling construction defect claims
  • Provide technical guidance on complex coverage, liability, and damages issues
  • Review claim files to ensure compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and best practices
  • Monitor claim handling activities, including reserving, settlement authority, and litigation strategy
  • Assist with the resolution of complex or escalated claims and provide guidance on claim strategy
  • Conduct file reviews and audits to ensure quality and consistency in claims handling
  • Support training and professional development of claims staff
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of claim activity and performance metrics
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including underwriting, legal, and management teams
  • Maintain strong relationships with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, and other external partners

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of claims handling and litigation experience, preferably in construction defect or related lines of business
  • 2+ years of claims supervisory or leadership experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of coverage analysis, liability evaluation, and claims resolution strategies
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and oversee complex claim operations

Licensing / Certifications

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Florida Adjuster License or other required jurisdictional licensing
  • Industry designations such as AIC, ARM, CPCU, SCLA, or similar are preferred

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred
