Construction Liability Claims Specialist

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Construction Liability Claims Specialist with our client. This is a fully remote direct hire opportunity, with preference given to candidates located in the Chicago, Illinois area. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of complex construction-related liability claims, utilizing your technical expertise to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve claims while delivering exceptional client service and maintaining compliance with policy provisions, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Construction Liability Claims Specialist Responsibilities

• Independently investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex construction liability claims
• Analyze coverage, liability, damages, and policy provisions to determine claim exposure
• Develop and implement strategic claim resolution plans that achieve timely and cost-effective outcomes
• Manage litigated claims and coordinate with defense counsel, experts, consultants, and other vendors
• Establish, maintain, and monitor appropriate expense and indemnity reserves throughout the life of the claim
• Negotiate settlements within assigned authority and present recommendations for higher authority approvals
• Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
• Communicate claim activity, strategy, and recommendations with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and internal business partners
• Identify emerging trends and provide technical expertise on complex construction liability matters
• Deliver exceptional customer service while building and maintaining strong professional relationships

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience handling construction liability, commercial general liability, or complex casualty claims
• Strong litigation management experience, including oversight of defense counsel and settlement strategy
• Experience evaluating coverage, liability, damages, and contractual risk transfer issues
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
• Ability to independently manage a complex caseload while balancing multiple priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience handling claims involving contractors, subcontractors, developers, property owners, or commercial construction projects preferred
