Marine Claims Adjuster

Insurance Placement Solutions (IPS) has an immediate opening for a Marine Claims Adjuster with our client. This is a remote opportunity available to qualified candidates located throughout the United States.

In this role, you’ll manage complex Marine claims while working closely with insureds, brokers, underwriters, legal counsel, and other business partners. The ideal candidate will have Marine claims experience involving Hull and Marine Liability exposures and the technical expertise to evaluate coverage, establish reserves, manage litigation, and develop effective resolution strategies.

Marine Claims Adjuster Responsibilities

• Manage complex Marine claims from initial assignment through resolution
• Handle dedicated client accounts and maintain strong relationships with insureds, brokers, and underwriters
• Analyze policy language and make coverage determinations on complex claims
• Investigate and evaluate liability, damages, and overall claim exposure
• Establish and maintain appropriate indemnity and expense reserves
• Develop claim strategies based on coverage, exposure, and potential outcomes
• Manage complex litigated claims and provide ongoing direction to defense counsel
• Develop and execute negotiation and settlement strategies
• Communicate coverage determinations and claim developments to insureds, clients, and brokers
• Collaborate with underwriting and other internal business partners
• Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation
• Travel occasionally as required for claim-related activities

Qualifications

• 4+ years of claims and/or litigation management experience
• Experience handling complex commercial insurance claims
• Experience with coverage analysis, claim evaluation, reserving, and settlement
• Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets, and products
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferred

• Marine claims handling experience
• Marine Liability and Hull claims experience
• Blue water and brown water claims experience
• Jones Act claims experience
• General Average and Ocean Cargo claims experience
• Experience handling complex coverage and litigated claims
• Experience directing outside counsel and developing litigation and settlement strategies
• Bachelor’s degree

Licensing

• Must obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses
• Multi-state adjuster licensing preferred
